While ensuring that cables are not left scattered and unorganized could be time consuming, doing so is critical, since over time these cables can stretch under their own weight and this can alter their efficiency. Mistake #2: Ignoring Network Cabling Laws and Regulations

Many network cables consist of twisted pairs— a type of wiring where two conductors are twisted together to cancel out electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources. This prevents network cables from interfering with each other, but they hold a magnetic field that’s generated by the small amount of voltage that runs through them. If you run network cables parallel to electric cables, it increases the chances of that magnetic field being disrupted, which could result in a lower quality transmission—or a slower network.
