Gas Appliance Service Technician Training Program

PAT Institute offers Gas Appliance Service Technician Training Program.

OVERVIEW

Gas Appliance Service Technicians can service and repair gas-fired residential and commercial appliances. They work with appliances such as dryers, furnaces, stoves, air-conditioning units and fireplaces. They may diagnose problems and use specialized tools to determine issues. They can provide estimates, assist customers with questions about the appliances and prepare work orders. Students may go on to become self-employed or work for residential or commercial repair companies.

Program length: 720 hours

CAREER OUTLOOK

Appliance Service technicians work for appliance dealers, independent appliance service companies, department stores, appliance manufacturers’ service departments and gas and electric utility companies. Students are employed by appliance sales companies, wholesalers, large apartment owners, smaller independent service companies and may go on to become self-employed.

Student will have the skills to succeed in the following areas of the industry:

Appliance Service Technician, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Domestics Appliance Technician, Appliance Maintenance Technician, Appliance Service Contractor, Gas Appliance Repair.

Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute, which emerged from the recognition of the need for higher education in the technical field, became an institution to serve the educational and training needs of skilled trades in Ontario. Effective April 2006.

As the new Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute develops, it will be building on the strong legacy of Vocational Schools by continuing to offer a responsive, quality education. It will maintain and increase its presence in the communities in the region by providing students the opportunity to work in their community, while collaborating with other academic institutions to expand access and create more variety in advanced education.

The Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute will offer a diverse array of high quality academic, trades, technological and vocational programs. With the expected addition of new spaces over the next two years and the anticipated development of new programs and facilities, our institute is dedicated to meet the needs of the region’s residents and employers with an expanded selection of world-class education and training programs.
