Combined Refrigeration & Gas Technician Courses in Toronto


Safety: Students learn about the electrical and mechanical safety requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, safe work place practices and procedure, environmental refrigerant laws (ODP), the use of Mapp & acetylene torches, WHMIS, Working at Heights, Lock Out & Tag Safety, Confined Spaces Hazard Awareness, Aerial Platform, and Scaffold Training.

HVAC Electrical: Students learn the fundamentals of electrical theory and practices, Topics include electrical theory, series, parallel, series/parallel circuits, meters and basic electrical code practices.

HVAC Heating and Air Condition Systems: Students learn the fundamentals of residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems. Topics include forced air furnace systems and hydronic boiler heating systems.

Piping Methods: Students learn how to thread and install complete gas piping systems in black steel pipe and in soft copper.

Employability Skills: Includes Resume Writing, Interview Skill Training, Customer Service Training, Communications Skills Training, and Timesheet Skills Training.


  • Minimum of a Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or a mature student
  • Pass an entrance test administrated by PAT
  • Be interviewed in detail regarding interest in the field
  • Meet any additional program specific entrance requirements
